Job summary

Chicago Anodizing is seeking a reliable Metal Finisher to polish, buff, grind, and finish metal parts to tight surface specifications. You will operate polishing wheels, buffers, grinders, sanders, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively.

You will read and follow work orders, inspect parts for defects, maintain accurate counts, and keep materials and parts separated. This role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety.

  • Polish, buff, grind, and finish metal parts to required appearance and surface specs.
  • Operate polishing wheels, buffers, grinders, sanders, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Read and follow work orders, instructions, samples, and directions.
  • Inspect parts before, during, and after polishing for scratches, pits, dents, or defects.
  • Maintain accurate counts of accepted, rejected, and completed parts.
  • Record production quantities and job information clearly and accurately.
  • Keep different jobs, materials, and customer parts separated and identified.
  • Handle finished parts carefully to prevent damage.
  • Meet production expectations while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Notify supervisor of quality concerns or equipment problems.
  • Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Assist with other production duties as assigned.

  • Polish, buff, grind, and finish metal parts to the required appearance and surface specifications.
  • Operate polishing wheels, buffers, grinders, sanders, and other finishing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Read and follow work orders, written instructions, samples, and verbal directions.
  • Inspect parts before, during, and after polishing to identify scratches, pits, dents, uneven finishes, or other defects.
  • Maintain accurate counts of accepted, rejected, and completed parts.
  • Record production quantities and job information clearly and accurately.
  • Keep different jobs, materials, and customer parts properly separated and identified.
  • Handle finished parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, contamination, or other damage.
  • Meet production expectations while maintaining consistent quality.
  • Notify a supervisor of quality concerns, equipment problems, damaged parts, or discrepancies in quantities.
  • Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Assist with other production duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous metal polishing, buffing, grinding, or similar finishing experience is required.
  • Experience polishing aluminum or other metals is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to produce consistent finishes on a variety of part sizes and shapes.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to count parts accurately and maintain basic production records.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Willingness to learn company procedures and accept direction from supervisors.
  • Basic English communication skills sufficient to understand safety rules and work instructions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate..
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, dust, polishing compounds, and changing temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection when required.
