Job summary

Corning Inc. in North Carolina is seeking a software engineer to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber.

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. Role Purpose

This position will work with other team members to manage,modify, and develop computer systemsrequiredto manufacture optical fiber.The position will alsoparticipatein or occasionally lead projects to meet the optical fiber division’sobjectives, drive cost reductionefforts,andparticipateincapacityexpansion efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Work hand in hand with a team of engineers to develop and provide support for our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation, encompassing software to serverassistanceacross the optical fiber division.
• Demonstrate leadership by mentoring junior developers, fostering their technical skills and knowledge, and encouraging professional growth.
• Participate in capital projects.
• Some after hours, on-call support may be needed.

Required Qualifications

• Abachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Object-Oriented design and development using languages such as C#, VB.Net, Java, etc.
• Proficient in computer programming skills including C#, VB.Net, SQL, Camstar, Git.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with .NET, either C# orVB.Net.
• Experience with Windows Server and IIS administration.
• Familiarity with Git and Azure Dev Ops/Git Lab.
• Experience with Camstar.
• Proven capability or experience in integrating MES into manufacturing processes.
• Experience in production support within a manufacturing environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen ability to discern the underlying needs in requests.

The range for this position is $78,062.00-$107,335.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
