BJ’s Wholesale Club in Marlborough, MA is seeking a Merchant Assistant to support merchandising strategy and analytics. You will play a key role in managing purchases, vendor communications, and promotional planning to help hit sales and margin goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in business or related field, 1–3 years merchandising/retail ops experience, and strong analytical and communication skills. This is a hybrid position with in-office days Tue-Thu at the Club Support Center and remote

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or operations related field.
• 1–3 years of professional merchandising or retail operations experience.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Functions as liaison for vendors, merchandise, supply chain, operations and marketing teams.
• Generates financial reports and analyzes data to provide insights and recommendations to reach sales and margin plans.
• Maintains and manages purchase order activity based on merchandising plans.
• Maintains awareness of merchandise trends and competitive environment.
• Monitors inventory levels and open-to-buy positions; creates SKUs for timely delivery.
• Participates in vendor selection, interviews prospective vendors and provides recommendations.
• Performs slow-turn analysis and recommends markdowns and price adjustments.
• Plans vendor meetings, product demonstrations and promotional events.
• Maintains assortment plan and advertising plan; manages coupons.
