Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. is seeking a Merchandise Assistant Manager in North Chicago, IL to partner with the Store Manager in leading a dynamic team and delivering positive experiences to communities served.

You will handle daily store operations, maintain cleanliness, stock, and safety while upholding company standards and policies. The role requires prior retail and management experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift 30–50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Prior retail and management experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Must be able to lift between 30 and 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
• Maintain areas of the store to company standards (stockroom and sales floor).
• Process corporate directives related to store activities (e.g., Pull and Hold/Destroy).
• Ensure store cleanliness and presentability, including bathrooms and floors.
• Maintain positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and associates.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Process receipt and return of DSD merchandise.
• Manage freight flow per productivity standards.
• Order and stock merchandise needs, including frozen & refrigerated items.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales-effective.
• Plan and maintain Clip Strips and Power Panels with sale items.
• Plan and implement monthly Sales Planners.
