Job summary

Total Wine & More in New York is seeking a Merchandiser who delivers excellent customer service, maximizes product inventory, and supports online operations, including curbside pickup.

You will greet customers, build relationships, stock and display products, participate in training on wine, spirits and beer, and ensure adherence to all laws and safety standards.

Flexible schedules for part‑time or full‑time roles, including evenings and weekends; 21+ required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience, 1+ year in a retail setting preferred.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maximize product inventory: processing freight, organizing and distributing inventory, pulling and stocking merchandise, building displays and end caps, placing signage.
• Support digital business operations by fulfilling orders and assisting with in-store and curbside pick-up and delivery services, including driving and making deliveries if assigned.
• Deliver exceptional service and a personalized experience by greeting customers, engaging to build relationships, and informing them about products and services.
• Participate in wine, spirits, and beer training to build product knowledge.
• Maintain knowledge of advertisements, promotions, and loyalty programs.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the store.

About the Role

All Store Team Members play an essential role in building our company brand by delivering excellent customer service. You will maximize product inventory and support online business operations, ensuring a positive shopping experience. While both part‑time and full‑time positions generally focus on merchandising responsibilities, you may also be assigned sales, front end or other responsibilities as needed. Internally, you will be referred to as Merchandiser and report to the store management team.

Responsibilities

• Maximize product inventory: processing freight, organizing and distributing inventory, pulling and stocking merchandise, building displays and end caps, placing signage.
• Support digital business operations by fulfilling orders and assisting with in‑store and curbside pick‑up and delivery services, including driving and making deliveries if assigned.
• Deliver exceptional service and a personalized experience by greeting customers, engaging to build relationships, and informing them about products and services.
• Participate in wine, spirits, and beer training to build product knowledge.
• Maintain knowledge of advertisements, promotions, and loyalty programs.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the store.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment.
• Complete cross‑functional responsibilities and other duties as assigned.
• Load and deliver orders in a safe and professional manner, following company policies and procedures and abiding by all traffic and safety laws if delivery is an essential job function.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• 1–3 years of experience, 1+ year in a retail setting (preferred).
• Familiarity with point‑of‑sale systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 8–10 hours a day.
• Ability to safely lift, load, and handle cases and pallets; climb ladders and lift 50 lbs. overhead repeatedly.
• May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday.
