Job description

The Merchandiser is responsible for developing and managing merchandising strategies that support overall business plans, calendars, and growth initiatives. In this role, you will partner closely with Buying, Product Development, Creative, and Marketing teams to align product assortments with compelling brand and customer storytelling. You will also collaborate with Wholesale partners to build cohesive collections, research and communicate emerging trends, and curate dynamic stories that drive higher product adoption, enhance the shopping experience in-store and online, support brand positioning, and grow sales revenue.

This is a hybrid position based in Los Angeles, CA. The candidate is expected to be on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

What You’ll Do

  • Create seasonal and quarterly concept and mood boards that clearly outline trend, silhouette, color, and fabric priorities for buying and development teams.
  • Lead the internal merchandising process by collaborating with Marketing and Creative teams to develop clear stories, capsules, and product launches that align with buying strategies.
  • Attend content and marketing planning meetings and help shape messaging by applying business insights and merchandising trends.
  • Conduct in-depth research on the latest women’s fashion trends and macro shifts within the industry.
  • Partner with Product Development to identify upcoming trends, prints, inspiration, and key themes.
  • Assist in creating a wholesale collection calendar that showcases relevant trends and stories aligned with client and consumer needs and shopping behaviors.
  • Work with development teams to determine qualifying styles and trends for wholesale collections.
  • Partner with wholesale account management throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure trends and business initiatives are reflected in assortments.
  • Assemble visuals for each monthly collection to provide direction on key outfits, trends, and product focuses that support buying priorities.
  • Coordinate sample management, timelines, and communication between vendors and wholesale account managers.
  • Support the redevelopment of top-performing styles and color extensions.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in women’s design, trend, or merchandising.
  • Proven experience researching and identifying seasonal trends and creating story and mood boards.
  • Strong understanding of style, silhouettes, construction techniques, color, trims, fabric/yarn, print/pattern, and wash.
  • Thorough knowledge of fashion and trend movements within the women’s market.
  • Ability to deeply understand the target customer and their preferences.
  • Ability to filter global trends through the lens of a specific, targeted consumer.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong sense of urgency, high attention to detail, and experience meeting tight deadlines.
