Job summary

Five Below is seeking a supervisory/manager-on-duty candidate to oversee stock receipt, displays, opening and closing procedures, and daily store operations in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead associates, train new team members, drive sales, and ensure promotions align with corporate guidelines while maintaining inventory integrity and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of management experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to multi-task and stay composed under pressure.
• Creative thinking and strong customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversees receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock for quick placement on the sales floor.
• Sets up and maintains store displays; highlights promotions per corporate guidelines.
• Manages opening/closing duties including cash, doors, alarms, and daily readiness.
• Acts as Manager on Duty, handling operations, staff, service, and urgent issues.
• Oversees daily activities of associates and ensures excellent customer service.
• Supports onboarding and ongoing training of associates on policy and procedures.
• Drives store sales and controls expenses by merchandising improvements and staff performance.
• Executes market plan with proper product and signage arrangement; updates promotions.
• Ensures Inventory Integrity processes are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees the receiving, unpacking, and organizing of new stock to ensure items are quickly and efficiently placed on the sales floor
• Manages the setup and maintenance of displays for specific store sections, ensuring signage is accurate and promotions are properly highlighted, following corporate guidelines for resets and seasonal updates.
• Manages the entire process of opening or closing the store, which includes securing cash, locking doors, setting alarms, and ensuring everything is in place for a smooth daily operation.
• Acts as Manager on Duty when needed, taking full responsibility for store operations, staff management, customer service, and addressing any urgent issues.
• Helps oversee the daily activities of all store associates, ensuring they are performing their duties effectively and providing excellent customer service.
• Supports the onboarding and ongoing training of associates, helping them learn store policies, product knowledge, and operational procedures to improve their performance.
• Drives store sales and controls expenses: Actively seeks ways to boost sales by optimizing merchandising, staff performance, and customer service.
• Executes the market plan by arranging products and signage according to corporate guidelines, ensuring promotional materials are displayed properly and updated regularly.
• Ensures the execution of company Inventory Integrity process

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• College experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of management experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Creative thinking
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Frequently operate cash register
• Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and places/removes merchandise up to a height of 5-10 feet
• Frequently ascend/descend ladders in order to retrieve and put away stock
• Frequently position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop, including in the stock room and on the sales floor
• Frequently communicate and exchange information with customers on the telephone and face-to-face in the store, as well as with managers and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
• Frequently move across the sales floor assisting customers, as well as to and from the stock room retrieving and putting away merchandise
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require day, evening, weekends and may include overnight shifts and travel (as required)
• Must be able to identify and discern email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures
• Must be able to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to perform all essential job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws
