Job summary

The Michaels Companies is seeking a Merchandise Manager for the Des Moines/Ankeny area to drive merchandising and operational execution. You will lead truck processing, planogram sets, pricing, and in-stock initiatives to ensure a customer-ready store environment.

You will support Store Manager, provide MOD coverage, and coach team members while maintaining high standards of visual merchandising and inventory control in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in SOPs and Company programs to ensure compliance with laws and requirements.
• Ensure execution of Company policies and standards, with accountability for store conditions and results.
• Provide Manager-on-Duty coverage, maintain floor leadership and service standards.
• Lead truck execution, unloading, sorting, and merchandise flow to the sales floor.
• Plan workload and prioritize daily tasks with store leadership to align staffing with business needs.
• Execute Store-In-Stock Optimization routines to drive in-stock levels and replenishment accuracy.
• Oversee Planogram (POG) execution and visual merchandising standards.
• Support a clean, organized store environment, including backroom organization and floor recovery.
• Manage inventory control, product accuracy and stock movement.
• Execute ad sets with compliant signage and product placement.
• Perform price changes accurately and on time across floor and systems.
• Oversee Ship-from-Store fulfillment for accurate and efficient order processing.
• Process RTVs and ASN receiving with documentation accuracy and inventory adjustments.
• Manage store damages procedures to minimize shrink.
• Train, coach, and develop team members through onboarding and ongoing skill-building.
• Partner to maintain Asset Protection practices and reduce shrink.

Store - DES MOINES-ANKENY, IAThe Merchandise Manager drives merchandising and operational execution, including truck processing, inventory routines, planogram sets, and visual standards. This role ensures accurate pricing, timely promotional execution, and a customer-ready store environment through strong workload planning and inventory management.**Major Activities*** Assist Store Manager in leading and managing adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.* Ensure execution of Company policies and standards, holding team accountable for store conditions and results.* Provide Manager-on-Duty (MOD) coverage, maintaining floor leadership, service standards, and operational continuity.* Lead truck execution processes, ensuring timely unloading, accurate sorting, and efficient flow of merchandise to the sales floor.* Own workload planning and daily task prioritization, partnering with store leadership to align staffing and execution to business needs.* Execute and maintain SISO (Store-In-Stock Optimization) routines to drive in-stock levels, replenishment accuracy, and sales readiness.* Oversee Planogram (POG) execution, ensuring merchandising sets are completed accurately and on schedule.* Establish and maintain visual merchandising standards, including initial product placement and presentation to company expectations.* Support a clean, organized, and customer-ready store environment, including backroom organization and sales floor recovery.* Manage key aspects of inventory control, ensuring product accuracy, integrity, and efficient stock movement.* Execute ad sets, ensuring promotional signage and product placement are compliant and customer focused.* Complete price changes accurately and on time, maintaining pricing integrity across the sales floor and systems.* Oversee Ship from Store fulfillment, ensuring orders are picked, packed, and shipped efficiently and accurately.* Process RTVs (Return to Vendor) and ASN receiving, ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and proper inventory adjustments.* Manage store damages procedures, ensuring proper handling, reporting, and shrink reduction* Train, coach, and develop team members through structured TM onboarding and ongoing skill-building across assigned departments.* Partner in maintaining strong Asset Protection practices, reducing shrink through awareness, compliance, and safe operations.**Other duties as assigned****Minimum Type of Experience Required*** 3+ years retail leadership experience**Work Environment*** Ability to remain standing for long periods of time* Ability to move throughout the store* Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise and fixtures, up to 25-50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.* Ability to climb ladders or step stools to stock and retrieve products.* Ability to perform repetitive motions, including scanning items, stocking shelves, and operating POS equipment.* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent customer interactions.* Work hours include nights, weekends and early mornings
