Job summary

Barton Malow in Baltimore, MD seeks a Construction Safety Manager to promote and enforce safe on-site practices. You will coordinate with trade contractors and MEP partners to ensure work is completed on schedule and in line with contract documents, delivering a quality product for the owner.

The role emphasizes proactive safety planning, coordination of multiple trades, and managing punch lists, with focus on OSHA standards and healthcare project considerations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in roles involving mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
• 4-year technical/engineering degree or equivalent field experience.
• Healthcare project experience preferred; OSHA 30-hour preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce corporate safety policies on jobsite and ensure safety compliance.
• Implement proactive pre-task safety planning for all activities.
• Supervise, coordinate and sequence contractors’ work to meet schedule.
• Monitor performance and coordinate to maintain productivity of trades.
• Oversee creation and completion of punch lists.
• Develop site logistics plans to maximize productivity and minimize disruption.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedule and manage work per schedule.
• Ensure contract requirements are followed and limit field changes.
• Communicate with the Project Manager and resolve conflicts to minimize delays.

Job description

Promote and enforce a safe work environment and safe work practices for all trade contractors and the overall construction site. Supervise and coordinate various contractors to ensure their work is completed on schedule and in accordance with the contract documents. Ensure a quality product for the owner. This position will provide oversight to MEP trade partners and equipment vendors. Responsible for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and special systems coordination and installation needs of our projects.

Responsibilities:

• Enforce corporate safety policies on jobsite, providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the field.
• Implement proactive pre-task safety planning for all work activities
• Supervise, coordinate and sequence contractors’ work
• Monitor performance and coordinate work to maintain productivity of trades
• Oversee creation and completion of punch list
• Facilitate Mechanical/Electrical overhead coordination
• Develop site logistics plans for entire project to maximize productivity and minimize impacts to building occupants
• Develop and maintain complete and detailed project schedule and manage work in accordance with the schedule
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by enforcing contract requirements and limiting field changes
• Assist with development of work scopes and front end documents that comply with applicable trade jurisdictions
• Communicate effectively with the Project Manager
• Effect timely resolution of conflicts and disputes to minimize delays and claims

Requirements:

• 5+ years in roles involving Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing
• 4 year technical/engineering degree or equivalent field experience
• Prior experience on healthcare projects preferred
• OSHA 30 hour preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $100,000 - $165,000 per year based on experience
