Job summary

Uponor Corporation is seeking an MEP Estimator II to develop precise material takeoffs, cost estimates, and support docs for mechanical and plumbing systems. The role uses AutoCAD and Revit, with 2+ years trade design and 4+ years CAD/estimation software experience. Hybrid work with periodic onsite in Apple Valley, MN.

You will analyze specs, perform calculations, and contribute to bids, while ensuring accuracy and adherence to GF standards. Bachelor's preferred; CPDT certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires an AA degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, drafting, MEP systems.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with Trimble Autobid Mechanical preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, Microsoft OS and MS Office.
• Knowledge of estimating techniques, piping systems, construction methods, and model codes is required.
• 2+ years of trade design experience and 4+ years of AutoCAD, Revit, or estimation software experience.
• CPDT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project specifications, drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, and 3D models to quantify piping materials, valves, fittings, supports, insulation, and specialty components.
• Perform engineering-based calculations related to pipe sizing, system layouts, and constructability.
• Estimate labor, equipment, installation, and indirect costs based on project scope.
• Contribute to proposal and bid package development, including scope definitions and material buy lists.
• Provide support to internal and external customers regarding designs, estimates, materials, products, schedules, and questions.
• Support post-bid activities by assisting with final material lists and handoff documentation.
• Review estimates and documentation for accuracy and compliance with GF and industry standards.
• Identify risks, constructability challenges, and value-engineering opportunities during estimating.

Job description

The MEP Estimator II is responsible for the development of accurate and comprehensive material takeoffs, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for in various project types and construction phases for mechanical and plumbing systems. With minimal project oversight, this role utilizes estimating, and modeling software at a proficient level to produce material lists, engineering calculations, cost analyses, and bid-ready documentation for complex water, and industrial process systems. Estimator IIs are accountable for quality control across assigned projects, providing technical guidance to team members, and ensuring estimates meet industry standards, GF quality expectations, and project timelines. This role plays a critical part in the pre-construction phase by delivering accurate, competitive estimates while supporting internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle. This role is considered a HYBRID position with periodic onsite work at our headquarters in Apple Valley, Minnesota; however, U.S.-based candidates will also be considered for a fully remote arrangement.

What you will be doing?

• Core Estimating & Technical Responsibilities

• Proposal Development & Post-Bid Support
  • Contribute to proposal and bid package development, including scope definitions, assumptions, clarifications, and material buy lists.
  • Provide knowledgeable, professional support to internal and external customers regarding designs, estimates, materials, products, schedules, and project-specific questions.
  • Support post-bid activities by assisting with final material lists and handoff documentation.
• Estimation Review & Team Support
  • Review estimates and documentation produced by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GF and industry standards.
  • Support team members with all aspects of the estimating process.
  • Identify project risks, constructability challenges, and value-engineering opportunities during the estimating phase.
  • Support continuous improvement by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and process efficiencies.
• Documentation & Professional Development
  • Maintain all required documentation in accordance with GF quality and record-keeping standards.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, punctuality, and active participation in team meetings, training sessions, and team initiatives.
  • Pursue continuous learning and proactive involvement in business and industry initiatives to expand technical knowledge across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure piping systems.

What will you need?

• Requires an AA degree (or equivalent) in a field relating to: construction management, engineering, architecture, drafting, MEP systems.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with Trimble Autobid Mechanical preferred.
• Requires familiarity with AutoDesk software (focusing on AutoCAD and Revit), Microsoft Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office platforms.
• Experienced knowledge of estimating techniques, commercial or industrial piping systems, construction methods, building materials, pipe sizing, and model codes is required.
• Must demonstrate a professional attitude and demeanor.
• Must be detail orientated, work well under pressure, and be able to meet deadlines.
• 2+ years of trade design experience and 4+ years of AutoCAD, Revit, or estimation software experience.
• Certificates, Licenses and Registrations Preferred: Plumbing (Potable) Design: CPDT (Certified Plumbing Design Technician)
