This role is ideal for a client‑facing leader with both engineering and project management experience, capable of guiding projects from early schematic design through execution. The focus is on MEP systems, with heavy emphasis on chilled water systems, cooling plants and infrastructure, HVAC, and building automation (BMS/EPMS). The Engineer will shape solutions for some of the most complex AI and hyperscale data center developments in North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead coordination and oversight of third‑party engineering firms delivering MEP designs.
  • Partner with clients during early schematic and concept design phases to develop solution‑driven system approaches.
  • Manage and influence design for chilled water plants, cooling systems, HVAC, and piping infrastructure.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability (N+1 / 2N), scalability, and constructability requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to internal and external engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with project management, construction, and estimating teams to align design with execution strategy and cost targets.
  • Review designs, specifications, and submittals to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support vendor and equipment selection for major mechanical systems.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal leadership teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and value.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in engineering, design, or project delivery.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in data center or mission‑critical projects.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale (100MW–1GW+) data center campuses strongly preferred.
  • Background in client‑side, owner’s rep, or consulting engineering roles highly valued.
  • Strong expertise in chilled water systems, cooling plants/towers, HVAC design, and building automation (BMS/EPMS).
  • Experience managing or coordinating third‑party engineering firms and design teams.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems in high‑reliability environments.
  • Ability to influence design decisions during early project phases (schematic/design development).
  • Proven leadership of cross‑functional teams and communication at all levels.
  • Commercial awareness of cost, constructability, and schedule impacts.
  • PE license is a plus.
Ideal Backgrounds
  • Experience with consulting A/E firms, design‑build contractors, or client‑side organizations.
  • Roles that include client‑side, ownership representation, or consulting engineering.
Other Requirements

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively, following oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines; overtime and weekends may be required.
  • FIELD ROLES ONLY – may work at various locations and conditions may vary.
Location
  • Lenexa, KS (preferred)
  • Lone Tree, CO (preferred)
  • Houston, TX (preferred)
  • Open to travel across North America to support client engagement and project execution.
