MEP Coordinator – Electrical & Mechanical Systems
Location: Barstow, TX (On-Site)
Industry: Data Center Construction | Mission-Critical Infrastructure
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Opportunity
Our client is a specialized construction services firm supporting the development and execution of large-scale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects. The company works closely with owners, contractors, engineers, and trade partners to provide technical oversight, construction coordination, and project execution support on complex, high-value developments.
We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on MEP Coordinator to support a major data center construction project in Barstow, Texas.
We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in oil & gas, heavy industrial construction, power generation, or other complex industrial facilities. Direct data center experience is a plus, but it is not required.
This is not a purely administrative coordination position. We need someone who understands how complex electrical and mechanical systems are designed, installed, integrated, and brought online.
The ideal candidate is currently working in a supervisory, lead field, or technical coordination role and has the experience and confidence to independently manage technical issues, coordinate multiple trades, and drive execution in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Technical MEP Coordination & Oversight
- Lead day-to-day coordination of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems across assigned construction areas.
- Serve as a technical point of contact between engineering teams, subcontractors, field supervision, and project leadership.
- Identify and resolve system conflicts, installation challenges, and constructibility issues.
- Review engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, shop drawings, and equipment specifications.
- Lead trade coordination meetings and drive technical issues through resolution.
- Monitor field installations for compliance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
Electrical & Mechanical Systems
- Coordinate electrical distribution infrastructure, including switchgear, transformers, switchboards, busways, and associated equipment.
- Support installation and coordination of critical power systems, generators, UPS equipment, and medium-voltage infrastructure.
- Oversee interfaces between electrical, mechanical, piping, controls, and structural systems.
- Coordinate mechanical equipment installations, chilled water systems, pumps, piping, and cooling infrastructure.
- Identify installation sequencing challenges and work with contractors to develop practical solutions.
Field Execution & Project Delivery
- Work directly with trade supervisors and subcontractors to keep construction activities aligned with project schedules.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, installation discrepancies, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate equipment layouts, access requirements, clearances, and field modifications.
- Support quality inspections, system testing, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
- Proactively identify technical risks and elevate issues when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- Strong technical background in electrical, mechanical, or multidisciplinary industrial construction.
- Prior supervisory or field leadership experience, ideally as an Electrical Superintendent, MEP Supervisor, General Foreman, E&I Supervisor, Lead Coordinator, or similar position.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial facilities, power generation, or mission-critical construction is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to independently interpret complex engineering drawings, electrical one-lines, riser diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Solid understanding of electrical distribution, mechanical equipment, piping systems, and multidisciplinary installation coordination.
- Experience overseeing subcontractors, leading coordination meetings, and troubleshooting technical challenges in the field.
- Working knowledge of relevant NEC, NFPA, and construction safety standards.
- Familiarity with construction management and coordination tools such as Navisworks, Bluebeam, Procore, Revit, or BIM 360/ACC.
- Engineering degree, construction management education, or equivalent technical trade experience.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who brings genuine technical depth, strong field judgment, and the ability to take ownership of complex systems without needing constant direction.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Work on a large-scale data center development involving highly sophisticated electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Apply your expertise from oil & gas, industrial construction, or power generation to the rapidly expanding mission-critical sector.
- Take ownership of complex technical scopes and work directly with experienced construction and engineering teams.
- Play a key role in coordinating critical infrastructure systems from installation through commissioning.
