Job summary

Flux Resources is seeking a MEP Commissioning Project Manager for a full-time exempt, on-site, no-travel role across three newly constructed secured federal facility buildings. You will lead commissioning activities from planning through project closeout, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems perform to project requirements and UFC standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in MEP commissioning for large ground-up facilities.
  • Familiarity with UFC and federal codes.
  • Ability to coordinate with owners, contractors, and government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, testing protocols, and contractor readiness reviews.
  • Lead commissioning of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, air handling units, exhaust systems, controls, pumps, energy management systems, and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Manage testing and commissioning of electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, lighting controls, grounding systems, emergency power, and life safety systems.
  • Oversee commissioning of domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, fuel, specialty piping, fire suppression, and fire alarm systems.
  • Verify installation, startup, testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB), functional performance, and code compliance; identify and drive resolution of deficiencies.
  • Conduct commissioning meetings, coordinate witness testing, and provide progress reporting to project leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Review commissioning-related submittals, startup reports, TAB reports, training documentation, corrective actions, and turnover records.
  • Support quality control, final inspections, punch-list completion, risk mitigation, and completion of all commissioning documentation before facility turnover.

MEP Commissioning Project Manager

This is a full-time exempt (40+ hours/week), on-site and no-travel role across three newly constructed secure federal facility buildings.


Summary


  • Lead and manage MEP commissioning activities for three ground‑up facility buildings through project closeout.

  • Serve as the primary commissioning liaison among the owner, contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, facility personnel, and government stakeholders.

  • Ensure mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems perform in accordance with project requirements.

  • Drive commissioning schedules, testing, documentation, deficiency resolution, and facility turnover activities.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), federal and state building codes, and applicable government requirements.

  • Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, quality control, and facility operations teams.

  • Support successful facility readiness, final inspections, occupancy milestones, and project closeout.

  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and system performance.

Ideal Candidate


  • 7+ years of experience in MEP commissioning, construction management, or building systems engineering.

  • Proven experience managing commissioning activities for large‑scale, ground‑up construction projects.

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and life safety systems.

  • Ability to manage commissioning schedules, deficiencies, corrective actions, documentation, and project closeout requirements.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state building codes, OSHA safety requirements, and project specifications.

  • Strong coordination and communication skills for working with government personnel, owners, contractors, design engineers, and specialty subcontractors.

  • United States citizenship and ability to successfully complete a 10‑year security background check, drug test, and required secure‑facility base‑access screening.

  • Ability to work on an active construction site within a secure federal facility and comply with applicable security protocols.


Nice to Have


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Experience commissioning federal, military, government, or mission‑critical facilities.

  • Experience working with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and government facility requirements.

  • Experience managing commissioning through final inspection, facility turnover, and project closeout.


Compensation & Benefits


  • Hourly or salary range: $105

  • Per diem is paid monthly at $7,900.
