Job summary

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is seeking Elementary Associate Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year at independent schools in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Associate Teacher program is a 1-3 year residency that pairs aspiring educators with an experienced classroom mentor, provides training, hands-on experience, ongoing guidance, and exposure to diverse school settings throughout the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related required; 2026 grads welcome.
• Aspiring educator with willingness to learn and passion for teaching young students.
• Experience with children in contexts like camp counseling, sports instruction, teaching assistant, etc.
• Ability to collaborate with other teachers and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Subscribe to school values and promote them.
• Assist with lesson planning, classroom management, and fostering a positive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with lead teacher to promote joyful learning and a welcoming school culture.
• Assist with creating engaging lessons across subjects (phonics, reading, writing, math, handwriting, social studies).
• Opportunities to coach or support extracurricular activities (often with an additional stipend).
• Communicate regularly with parents via email, phone, in-person conversations, conferences, and progress reports.
