Job Category: Health Care

Are you passionate about mental health and looking for a role where your presence truly matters? At Prairie View, we believe in creating more than just a facility—we build a safe, rehabilitative community where both staff and residents experience genuine healing and growth.

The Heart of Your Role

As a member of our care team, you aren't just "monitoring"—you are a vital part of a resident's recovery journey. Your day-to-day will focus on:

  • Building Connections: Engage directly with children and adolescents through shared interests, current events, and unit activities. We believe in a "hands‑on" approach to care.
  • Providing a Safe Space: Maintain a supportive environment through consistent "sight and sound" supervision, ensuring the safety of every resident and peer.
  • Empowering Growth: Lead educational and rehabilitative groups. You’ll be a role model for healthy conflict resolution and goal attainment.
  • Active Listening: Focus on understanding our residents’ stories without judgment, providing the empathetic ear they need to feel heard.
  • Clinical Excellence: Utilize our Inpatient Nursing Services Manual and specific Treatment Plans to provide age‑appropriate, high‑quality care.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Observational Skills: You can differentiate between typical adolescent behavior and moments that require professional intervention or limit‑setting.
  • A Growth Mindset: You aren’t afraid to ask questions, seek clarification, and use our clinical manuals to ensure the highest standard of care.
  • Emotional Intelligence: The ability to assess a resident’s emotional state and level of involvement with empathy and accuracy.
  • Reliability: A commitment to maintaining the policies and procedures that keep our healing community safe and effective.
Why Choose Prairie View?

You will be part of a mission‑driven team that values professional development and clear communication. We provide the tools, manuals, and support you need to feel confident in your job performance from day one.

Qualifications – What We’re Looking For
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. If you have a Bachelor’s degree or are a Licensed Mental Health Technician (LMHT), we’d love to talk to you!
  • Experience: While no specific experience is required, we prefer candidates who have worked in a social service setting or have completed at least two years of college.
  • Communication Skills: You should be professional in both verbal and written English, with solid reading and computer/keyboarding skills.
  • The "Human" Element: We need team members who can stay calm, positive, and non‑reactive in high‑pressure situations, interacting with residents and staff with a steady hand and a kind heart.
  • Physical Readiness: This is an active role. You should be able to:
    • Stand for up to 2 hours at a time.
    • Lift at least 50 pounds.
    • Physically assist or restrain residents when necessary for safety (kneeling, bending, squatting).
    • Escort residents between buildings efficiently.
  • Requirements: Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license (with an insurable driving record), and be able to pass all required Kansas background checks (KBI, Central Registry, and DCF).
Why You’ll Love Being Full‑Time at Prairie View
  • Health & Wellness: Affordable Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance, Delta Dental, and Vision Direct.
  • Future Planning: 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match after one year.
  • Security: Company‑paid life and disability insurance for your peace of mind.
  • Time for You: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals and bereavement leave.
  • Support Tools: Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and a Health Savings Account (HSA) with an employer contribution.
