Job summary

KidsPeace in the United States is seeking a Mental Health Worker to provide intensive supervision and compassionate care for emotionally and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents in a residential setting. You will support safety, implement treatment plans, and build trusting relationships essential for healing.

The role requires a High School Diploma and preferably a Bachelor's in Mental Health, plus clearance screenings and drug tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health or related field preferred.
• Some experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents is preferred.
• Must pass Criminal Record History Clearance and a Child Abuse History Clearance.
• Must pass a Physical and Drug Screening and complete KidsPeace training.

Responsibilities

• Supervised and supported emotionally and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents in a therapeutic residential setting.
• Ensured the safety and well-being of youth through continuous monitoring, observation, and crisis intervention.
• Built trusting relationships that fostered emotional growth, behavioral improvement, and treatment engagement.
• Implemented individualized treatment plans and behavioral support strategies aligned with clinical goals.
• Utilized trauma-informed practices to address underlying emotional needs and promote positive behavioral outcomes.
• Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to provide consistent, high-quality care and support for youth development.

Position Overview

The Mental Health Worker is responsible for providing intensive supervision and direction to emotionally and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents in a compassionate and respectful manner. This includes requiring an unwavering commitment to the safety of kids and being aware of all ongoing developments and concerns, daily, of all children in their care. This responsibility also includes demonstrating the ability to distinguish between discipline and punishment as well as seeing past a child's surface behavior to recognize the children in need of help. Additionally, there is an innate desire to build trusting and supportive relationships with all of our children and recognize this as a prerequisite for implementing individualized treatment and unit programming.

Qualifications

High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health or related field preferred.

Some experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents is preferred.

Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.

Must pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and a Child Abuse History Clearance, which are processed by KidsPeace.

Must pass a Physical and Drug Screening and possess the ability to attend and successfully complete all KidsPeace sponsored training. EOE
