Job summary

Qualifications

  • Possession or eligibility for California professional registrations as listed (ACSW/AMFT/APCC or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health interventions and recovery services to participants and families; develop treatment plans and conduct individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Perform routine and emergency assessments, crisis intervention, and related services; manage an assigned caseload of children/youth/young adults.
  • Consult with staff, programs, and external agencies regarding treatment needs and plans.

Pay/Benefits at a Glance:
  • Pay Range: The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. This position may be filled at one of two levels:
  • Mental Health Therapist I: $70,304- $89,434.15 per year
  • Mental Health Therapist II: $77,112 - $98,416.62 per year.

The philosophies and concepts behind the service design of the Supportive Services for Transition Age Youth draw from both evidence-based and evidence-informed best practices. STAY utilizes principles from the Transition to Independence model (TIP) for working with Transition Age Youth (TAY); the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP); and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT). Additionally, co-occurring disorders are normative in this population, and therefore all staff receives education in concepts related to co-occurring complexity such as Motivational Interviewing. Individually designed services support participants to gain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to move successfully into adult life. Through their engagement in program services, participants learn to imagine and develop aspirations for the future.

What You Will Do

Under administrative and clinical supervision (Mental Health Therapist I) or consultation and direction (Mental Health Therapist II), provides behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned participants and their families; develops treatment plans and performs individual, group, and family therapy, routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services; manages an assigned caseload of children, youth and/or young adult participants; provides consultation to other staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
  • Mental Health Therapist I-II: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field; and
  • Mental Health Therapist I: One (1) year of internship experience providing mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
  • Mental Health Therapist II: Two (2) years of post-master’s experience providing professional mental health services in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school-based, or community-based setting for children, youth, or young adults
Licenses and Certifications
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment; minimum of two (2) years of driving experience; or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within ten (10) days of hire.
  • Mental Health Therapist I: Possession of a valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), to be maintained throughout employment. Some programs may consider candidates who are able to obtain registered status within the first six (6) months after hire
  • Mental Health Therapist II: Possession of valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), to be maintained throughout employment
