Job Description

Health, Counseling, and Disability Access Services seek anexperienced mental health therapist to provide mental healthservices to UMSL students presenting with a wide range of clinicalneeds as well as to contribute to the ongoing enhancement ofclinical services for all students.

Primary responsibilities include providing individual and groupcounseling/therapy. Counseling staff also participate in additionalclinical functions such as outreach, access coordination, andcommunity engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrateexperience working with a wide variety of clinical populations andan understanding of intersectionality and its impact on the livesof students. Additional duties include crisis intervention,consultation, and potential supervision of clinical graduateinterns. The position also carries specific responsibilities forleading, developing, and promoting group therapy offerings, as wellas community engagement efforts.

This role is intended for a professional committed to the missionand work of university counseling centers and interested incontributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary staff.Competence working with a broad range of therapy clients isessential. The successful candidate will value an integratedapproach that includes clinical service delivery, training, campusconsultation, prevention and early intervention efforts, andcollaborative campus relationships. Desired qualities includestrong communication skills, a collaborative working style,effective self-care and boundary management, and the ability tomanage workload demands while contributing to a positive andprofessional work environment.

Shift

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and familytherapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to belicensed within 12 months) within the State of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

Post-degree experience in providing mental health treatment.Experience promoting, developing, and maintaining group therapy.University counseling center experience. Desirable skills includeinterest and experience in utilizing a brief therapy model, crisisintervention, hospitalization experience, and work with morecomplex cases.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$53,976 - $64,000
