Job summary

Dover Behavioral Health System, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking a Mental Health Technician for partial programs to provide direct patient care to adults and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. You will support safety, participate in treatment planning, and assist with daily program operations at our Dover, Delaware location.

The role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and coordination with therapists and nurses in a hospital setting, with opportunities for professional growth

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
  • 6 months’ work experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Associates’ Degree and mental health work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and monitor the safety of patients at all times to maintain a therapeutic and safe environment.
  • Participate in treatment planning by helping to identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths.
  • Report all areas of concern regarding patient’s mental or physical status to the Therapist or Nurse.
  • Assist in the daily entry process, including safety search of patients and personal belongings, and orienting new patients to the program.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group therapy programs for patients.
  • Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation ensuring that forms are properly completed, filed.
  • Carry out clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care and department operations.
  • Safely transport patients or visitors to and from locations.
  • Conduct safety inspections of company vehicles prior to and after transportations.
  • Run errands and deliver supplies as requested.

We are seeking qualified candidates for our Mental Health Technician – Partial Programs position. In this role you willprovide direct patient care to adults and adolescents with psychiatric disorders as well as dual-diagnosis patients to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Observe and monitor the safety of patients at all times to maintain a therapeutic and safe environment, including practicing early intervention with patients to prevent emergency codes
  • Participate in treatment planning by helping to identify patients’ problems, needs and strengths. Report all areas of concern regarding patient’s mental or physical status to the Therapist or Nurse
  • Assist in the daily entry process, including safety search of patients and personal belongings, and orienting new patients to the program
  • Ensure precaution protocols are followed and encourage patients to actively participate in all program activities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver group therapy programs for patients
  • Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation ensuring that forms are properly and promptly completed, stickered, and filed
  • Assist patients with daily life activities as needed, including assisting nurse with maintaining vital signs
  • Carry out clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care and department operations, including taking and answering program phone calls and answering program doors.
  • Safely and timely transport patients or visitors to and from specified locations
  • Conduct safety inspections of company vehicles prior to and after any transportations
  • Run errands, pick up supplies and make deliveries as requested
  • Maintain a clean program area and ensure other common areas are cleaned up as messes occur
  • Identify, document, and report any and all instances of adult or child abuse and neglect to the appropriate parties including a member of management, the police, and state agencies
Qualifications

*UHS benefits are available to employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Coverage is effective on day 31 of employment. Eligibility for employees who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week varies by location.
