Job summary

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in Independence, MO is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team. You will work directly with patients experiencing behavioral health challenges, helping to ensure their safety and support their treatment plans.

The role involves providing direct care, maintaining a safe environment, conducting safety checks, and collaborating with nursing staff to support patient care plans. Missouri location, full-time hours with 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
• Must be able to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am

Responsibilities

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in the area of Independence, MO and we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team. In this hands‑on role, you will work directly with patients experiencing behavioral health challenges, helping to ensure their safety, support their treatment plans, and promote a positive therapeutic environment.

The name Three Trails was selected to honor the historical significance of the city of Independence as the starting point for the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails. The logo icon is a compass, which is symbolic of wayfinding, and metaphorically the personal journey to recovery.

The Groundbreaking for the new hospital was held in January 2025. Beam topping was held in July 2025. The facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026.

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital will:
