Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC seeks a Mental Health Technician for the Pediatric/Child Behavioral Health unit. You will support the nursing team, assist with direct and indirect patient care, and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment for young patients and their families.

You'll work under the supervision of a registered nurse, participate in care planning, document patient progress, and lead group activities focused on goals, community, and recovery.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• High School Graduate or GED required

Responsibilities

• Work with the mental health clinical team to create and implement a care plan under supervision.
• Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information.
• Document observations and patient responses to activities and changes.
• Lead or co-lead groups on goals, community, leisure, and wrap-up.
• Assist with patient mobility: turning, positioning, ambulating, transferring.
• Perform clerical duties: charting, filing, phones, messages.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Unit: Pediatric/ Child Behavioral Health

The Mental Health Technician delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to behavioral health nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the Mental Health Technician assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the MHT’s skills/training and the needs of the department and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Mental Health Technician complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

• You will work closely with the mental health clinical team to create and implement a care plan by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
• Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care.
• Document observations, interactions, patient responses to performed activities, and any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence.
• You will lead or co-lead groups that include topics related to goals, community, leisure, diversionary, and wrap-up.
• You will assist with patient mobility by regularly turning, positioning, and ambulating as well as transferring patients to and from other units/departments.
• Clerical duties include assembling and maintaining charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages.

What qualifications you will need:
