The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This includes assistance with patient admissions, discharges and transfers; monitoring patients for verbal and non‑verbal cues of potential aggressive behaviors and de‑escalating them. The technician reports alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognises differences between illustrations, delusions and hallucinations, monitors safety issues, takes action to prevent patient harm, and communicates these issues to the Registered Nurse. Assist patients with activities of daily living and encourage independent behavior within a therapeutic environment.
