Position Overview
Malvern Behavioral Health is seeking Full Time Mental Health Technicians for the day shift (7:00am - 7:30pm) at the MBH-Philadelphia facility. The role includes an every other weekend commitment and is fully time/benefit eligible.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the direct care and management of patients within the young adult age range (18‑26) with medical and behavioral issues, as directed by the treatment team.
- Assist with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living, while considering the patient’s level of growth and development.

- Demonstrates understanding of program philosophy and is able to interpret and implement patient care.

Qualifications
Education/Training
- High School diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development.
Experience
- No minimum required.
- Preferred: one year’s experience as a nurse’s aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or an equivalent role in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
Licensure/Certification
- Current CPR Certification (American Health Association Healthcare Provider)
- Handle With Care Certification
Physical Requirements
- Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions.
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel with ease, and walk often.
- Requires frequent telephone use, occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 50lbs.
- Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250pounds.
- Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.
- Must be able to express and exchange ideas verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to perform HWC techniques and appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.
Environment & Hazard Information
- Works in well‑lit, well‑ventilated area with high traffic flow of patients, visitors, staff, and others.
- Employee may be exposed to internal/external disasters, infections/communicable diseases, hazardous/toxic agents, and chemicals listed in MSDS sheets.
- Participates in therapeutic crisis intervention with physically aggressive patients, which may involve personal risk.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration exposure to blood‑borne pathogens (CFR 1910.1030).
- Position susceptible to reasonably anticipated skin, eye, mucous membrane, or potential contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
