Job summary

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT/CNA) for day shifts at our 86-bed Panama City, FL facility. The role supports inpatient adolescent and adult care, including behavioral management, education groups, and activity facilitation.

You will work under supervision to monitor patients, document observations, and assist with daily living activities as part of the treatment team. Experience in patient care is preferred; AHCA background screening is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One year customer service experience required.
• One year experience in a direct patient care role preferred.
• Ability to pass a Level II AHCA background screening.
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, 6:45am-7:15pm

Responsibilities

• Observe patients to detect behavior patterns and report observations to staff.
• Record measures of patients' general physical condition and notify staff of abnormalities.
• Facilitate patient education and activity groups.
• Assist the patient with ADLs and personal needs.

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT/CNA) works under direct supervision to provide patient care in the treatment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions. Manages behavioral problems and facilitates education and activity groups. Actively participates as a member of the treatment team and performs other duties as assigned..

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Patient Observation: Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
• Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
• Facilitates patient education and activity groups.
• Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
