Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Technician at Glen Oaks Hospital in Greenville, TX to support patient safety and care across age groups. You will work under a Registered Nurse as part of the treatment team, providing continuous supervision and interaction to patients.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, CNA preferred, and a valid driver’s license. Training in Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation, and CPR is expected before orientation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; CNA preferred.
• Two years of related psychiatric care experience preferred.
• Must have valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety and provide continuous patient care.
• Work as part of the treatment team under RN supervision.

Glen Oaks Hospital is a 54-bed private mental health hospital in a relaxed setting in Greenville, Texas. For almost 40 years, Glen Oaks Hospital has been a leader in the field of mental health and chemical dependency care, and our staff is dedicated to researching the latest treatment approaches and applying this to our overall treatment philosophy.

The primary function of the Mental Health Technician (MHT) is to ensure patient safety. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHT's work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Hours: 16 hours per week. Day shift: 6:45am to 3:15pm, varied days

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree or equivalent is required. Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Handle with Care (HWC), Verbal De-escalation, and CPR before on the unit orientation and prior to assisting with restraining procedures .

May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
