Richmond University Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in a psychiatric unit. Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
  • Excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.
  • Orientation toward consumer satisfaction.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certification in emergency response (CPI or PMCS) preferred.
  • Experience with EKG and Phlebotomy preferred.

  • Perform procedures associated with activities of daily living and personal hygiene of patients.
  • Demonstrate a humanistic and caring attitude.
  • Apply basic knowledge of desired effects and side effects of psychotropic medications.
  • Establish and foster collegial relationships with peers and other disciplines.
  • Maintain openness and responsiveness to diverse backgrounds and experiences, promoting a culturally sensitive environment.
  • Apply therapeutic skills in crisis intervention.
  • Perform supplemental components of nursing admission.
  • Recognize changes in a patient’s mental status and share findings with the primary nurse.
  • Support morale and milieu management.

Job description

Salary

Hourly rate: $28.61 – $33.98 per hour.
