Job summary

Diversus Health Inc. is seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct patient support within the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU).

Under licensed staff supervision, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for individuals in behavioral health crises. You will observe patients, assist with activities of daily living, facilitate groups, document in the EMR, and support admissions/discharges while following safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field preferred OR High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to document services accurately, timely, and professionally.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including entering, retrieving, and maintaining information in the electronic medical record.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply Handle With Care physical management techniques as required for the ATU setting.

Responsibilities

  • Performs required patient observation and safety monitoring, including Q15 checks and one-to-one monitoring.
  • Identifies and reports safety concerns and conducts searches as applicable.
  • Assists admissions, transfers, and discharges and orients patients to the unit.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and communicates concerns to nursing staff.
  • Establishes therapeutic rapport and uses de-escalation techniques to support crisis stabilization.
  • Facilitates psychoeducational or skills-based groups and documents participation in EMR.
  • Verifies visitation documentation and supports unit workflow.
  • Assists licensed staff with vital signs and medication reconciliation.
  • Documents observations, incident reports, and group notes in accordance with policy.
  • Uses Handle With Care techniques to respond to escalated situations and restraints when indicated.
  • Performs housekeeping, sanitation, and infection prevention tasks.
  • Participates in required meetings and contributes to a team environment.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt – This position is classified as Non‑Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.Job Summary:The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is responsible for providing direct patient support within the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU). Under the direction of licensed clinical staff and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the MHT assists in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
