Job summary

NKC Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct, continuous observation of patients. You will intervene to prevent harm in cases of confusion, delirium, self-destructive behavior, or high fall risk, and coordinate with the care team to support Activities of Daily Living.

This role emphasizes prompt intervention to maintain patient safety, collaboration with colleagues, and adherence to hospital policies. Prior hospital patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have hospital patient care experience within the last three years.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Job description

SUMMARY

Mental Health Technician is responsible for the direct, continuous observation of patients. She/he intervenes as necessary to prevent physical harm to patients who might be at elevated risk of injuring themselves or others due to confusion, delirium, self-destructive behavior, or a high likelihood of falling. Mental Health Technician works with others in the healthcare team to provide Activities of Daily Living and assure prompt intervention to maintain patient safety.

EXPERIENCE

Hospital patient care experience within the last three years.

OTHER

Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.

LICENSE/CERT

Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association)
