Job summary

Georgetown Behavioral Health Institute (GBHI) is a 118-bed acute care psychiatric hospital in Georgetown seeking a dependable Mental Health Technician for PRN coverage. You will provide high-quality care, support the treatment plan, and contribute to a therapeutic milieu for adults, teens, and seniors.

Shifts include day (7a-7p) or night (7p-7a) with at least one weekend per month. Requirements include a high school diploma, CPR and SAMA training (employer provided), and a minimum of 2 years

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR and SAMA training required (employer provided).
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Support the hospital program philosophy of care and maintain a therapeutic milieu for all patients.
• Communicate with nursing staff constantly and participate in the patient plan of care as assigned.
• This PRN position can be day shift (7a–7p) or night shift (7p–7a) and requires at least one weekend shift per month.
• Must pass background check, drug screen, medical exam, and provide positive employment references.
• Maintain physical readiness to meet job demands (lifting up to 50 lbs) as needed.

Description

Our Mental Health Technicians provide high quality care to patients who are hospitalized with psychiatric or emotional disorders.

Mental Health Technicians must support the hospital program philosophy of care, support and ensure a therapeutic milieu for all patients, communicate with nursing staff constantly, and participate in the patient plan of care as assigned.

This PRN position can be either day shift 7a-7p. or night shift, 7p-7a and does require that you work at least one weekend shift per month.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CPR and SAMA is required (training required and employer provided)
• Required Licenses: None
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting. Experience in a free standing psychiatric hospital preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be a good listener with a pleasant demeanor that encourages and engages others.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
• Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical, and be able to provide positive employment references.
• Physical Demands: With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs.), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers.
