Job summary

Roxbury Treatment Center in Shippensburg, PA. is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join our behavioral health team on a part-time basis with every other weekend rotation. Shifts run 6:30pm–7:00am and require active patient care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe milieu, leading patient activity groups, performing rounds for safety, and collaborating with nurses to address patient needs. A psychology-related degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a psychology-related field is highly preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Monitors unit milieu and helps to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
• Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety.
• Works collaboratively with unit nursing staff on patient care activities.
• Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
