Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH), a 126-bed inpatient psychiatric facility, seeks a Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) for the night shift. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week with full benefits, overtime opportunities, and coverage across shifts.

As a BHA you will support RNs, assist with admissions and discharges, lead groups, escort patients, and maintain safety rounds. You will join a compassionate team dedicated to care.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in psychology or related human health services preferred; High School Diploma required.
• At least one year of experience in mental health with adolescent experience preferred.
• CNA and EMTs encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse with admissions by obtaining vital signs and securing belongings; screens visitors and calls.
• Assists with discharge processes, returning belongings and escorting individuals out of the hospital.
• Facilitates activity, education and leisure groups; documents purpose and outcome for each member.
• Provides escorts for patients to the cafeteria, courtyards, or other areas in the hospital.
• Maintains observation check sheets; conducts safety rounds and documents them.
• Demonstrates compassion and respect toward patients and families/care partners.
• Mentors and coaches patients on early warning signs and triggers.

This full-time opportunity offers 36 hours per week and full benefits. There is an opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested.

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services.

In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women's trauma unit.

Behavioral Health Associates (BHAs) at Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital deliver quality care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care.

Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks:

• Assists the Registered Nurse with admissions by obtaining vital signs and securing belongings. Screens visitors and incoming calls, answers questions and prioritizes or redirects calls as appropriate.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with the discharge process, returning belongings, and escorting individuals out of the hospital.
• Facilitates activity, education and leisure groups. Documents the purpose and outcome of the group for each member.
• Provides escorts for patients to the cafeteria, to the outside courtyards, or to other areas/departments in the hospital.
• Maintains current observation check sheets for all patients on their assigned unit. Conducts safety rounds each shift on the units including groups rooms, laundry rooms, and patient rooms. Documents safety rounds.
• Demonstrates compassion and respect when interacting with the individuals in our care and their families/care partners.
• Mentors and coaches patients on early warning signs and triggers.
