Job summary

El Paso Behavioral Health System, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Mental Health Technician (MHT) / Driver to support the treatment team. You will provide continuous patient care, supervise, interact with patients aged 5 to geriatrics, and transport patients as needed while maintaining safety.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; additional degree in social work or therapeutic discipline preferred; valid driver's license; CPR certification; Handle With Care training within

Qualifications

  • Two years of related experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
  • Must be 21+ and have a clean driving record; CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • The Mental Health Technician (MHT)/Driver provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling for patients aged from five to geriatric.
  • Transports patients to and from the facility while maintaining safety and oversight.
  • Acts as active part of the treatment team and supports observation and care.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and assists with restraining procedures as trained.

Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) / Driverfunctions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from five years of age through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. In addition, this position provides transportation of patients to and from the facility providing continuous observation interaction, and role modeling to the patients while maintaining safety at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with an understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Maintains a valid, class-specific driver’s license applicable to the transportation of patients.

Additional Requirements: Must be 21 years of age or older and have a good driving record as obtained from the Department of Public Safety. Successful completion of Handle With Care Training within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting with restraining procedures. May be required to work overtime, holidays and weekends, and flexible hours. Must have current CPR Certification.
