Job summary

Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma is seeking Mental Health Technicians to support inpatient behavioral health treatment in Admissions. The role involves maintaining a safe, structured environment, assisting with therapeutic activities, and promoting wellness under supervision.

We offer shift-based hours, including evenings/nights and weekends, with hourly rates of Level I and Level II pay, plus additional shift premiums.

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Mental Health Technicians to join our team and support individuals receiving behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting. Under close supervision, this role plays a key part in delivering both direct and indirect care to patients in need of behavioral health support. This position is in Admissions.

Position Overview

As a Mental Health Technician, you will help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for patients. You will assist with therapeutic activities, promote wellness, and contribute to de-escalation efforts when needed. Your presence and behavior will serve as a positive example, offering guidance and encouragement to those in your care.

Key Responsibilities

Job Type/Salary:
  • 1 positionavailable:
    • Sun 7p-5a, Wed 7p-5a, Fri 7p-5a, Sat 7p-5a
  • Hourly Rates:
    • Level I: $14.10 hourly
    • Level II: $15.28 hourly
  • Potential to earn extra $$:
    • Extra $.50/hour for working evenings and nights
    • Extra $.75/hour for working weekends and holiday
    • Mental Health Technicians also receive an extra $1 per hour shift pay, for any shift worked!That can be stacked on top of the Evening/Weekend pay too.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Special Requirements:
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.

About Us: Griffin Memorial Hospital (GMH) is located in Norman, Oklahoma, and serves all 77 counties in Oklahoma as a Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) treatment center for adults. Griffin Memorial Hospital is a 120-bed acute psychiatric hospital serving persons aged 18 and over with severe mental illness and provides in-patient hospital care for those in need of mental health & substance abuse services.
