Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in behavioral health or related setting.

Overview

Shift Options: 7 PM- 7 AM Rotating Weekends

The position will work with children, adolescents and adults. We are hiring full-time Mental Health Technicians (MHT) to provide high quality care to patients on Senior Adult and Adolescent units who are hospitalized with psychiatric or emotional disorders. MHTs support the hospital program philosophy of care, help sustain a therapeutic milieu for all patients, communicate with nursing staff continually, and participate in the patient plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in treatment planning by identifying patients\' problems, needs, and strengths; suggest modifications to the treatment plan based on observations of patients\' behavior.
  • Provide input during shift report and discharge planning.
  • Participate in implementing patients\' treatment plans by monitoring progress and communicating information about patients\' behavior to other treatment team members.
  • Maintain communication with patients, family members, and referral sources in the patients\' interest.
  • Co-facilitate didactic, educational, and community groups within the adolescent treatment program, encouraging and facilitating patient participation in therapeutic activities.
  • Supervise patients to ensure safety and involvement in treatment and during transport.
  • Contribute to maintaining the therapeutic milieu on the unit and enforce the level system or other behavior management methods.
  • Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation.
  • Orient new patients to the unit, program, and milieu.
  • Provide general nursing assistance as assigned and supervised by the nurse in charge.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living when aligned with the treatment plan and patient needs, age, and developmental level.
  • Carry out clerical/administrative tasks to support patient care and department and hospital operations.
  • Perform related duties as requested and uphold the organization\'s ethics and customer service standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. CPR and MANDT are required (training provided by employer).
  • Required Licenses: None
  • Preferred Licenses / Certifications: Registered Behavioral Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting; experience in phone triage, telehealth, or case management, or a combination of education and experience. Experience in a free-standing psychiatric hospital is preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical, and provide positive employment references.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks with or without reasonable accommodations (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, etc.).
