Job summary

The Oregon Health Authority is seeking Mental Health Security Technicians for the Oregon State Hospital in Salem to provide security and safety support in a secure psychiatric hospital environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring entrances, supervising patrols, handling emergencies, and assisting with patient behavior management and transport. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• One year of experience providing security services or one year of experience providing direct patient care in a mental-health setting.
• Experience with healthcare or mental-health security, law enforcement, corrections, surveillance systems, alarm monitoring, de-escalation, crisis response and professional report writing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor entrances and control access to the hospital.
• Conduct interior and exterior security patrols.
• Monitor security cameras and alarm systems.
• Respond to emergencies and security incidents.
• Help manage disruptive, combative, or violent patient behavior.
• Assist with physical interventions and restraints when necessary.
• Transport and escort patients within the hospital and off campus.
• Prepare incident reports and related documentation.
• Support patient admissions.
• Issue and collect identification badges and keys.
• Process and preserve evidence for investigations.
• Contact Oregon State Police when necessary.
• Provide professional service to patients, employees, and visitors.
