Job summary

Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Veterans Health Administration. Candidates must hold an active RN license, meet English proficiency standards, and may pursue appropriate licensure pathways including GNT exceptions.

Qualifications

• Must have graduate nursing education from an approved program and current, full, active RN license in the United States
• Proficiency in English written and spoken as required by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f)
• Evidence of licensure in any US state or territory or DC
• Foreign nursing education requires formal degree equivalency validation
• GNT exception allows entry‑step appointment while pursuing licensure
• 3–5 years of psychiatric/mental health experience recommended
• State licensure and ability to practice in the VA system are required
• Ability to meet physical requirements and pass background checks

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervise the nursing process
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Mental Health recovery program
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team and educate patients and families
• Engage in leadership activities and continuous professional development
• Comply with VA policies and ED/RP program requirements
• Maintain documentation and ensure patient safety and ethical standards

ADN or Diploma in Nursing

BSN degree

MSN or related field with BSN
