Job Title

Mental Health Provider - IEP Support

Work Hours / Days

Full-Time or Part-Time based on student enrollment and special education service needs. Caseload expectations will be aligned with FTE assignment in accordance with state and federal special education guidelines.

Wage

$55,000‑70,000 per year. Compensation will be prorated based on FTE assignment.

Benefits

Benefit eligibility is based on FTE status. Employees working 30 hours or greater per week are eligible for full benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401k and paid leave. Employees working less than 30 hours per week will receive paid sick leave.

Job Function

The Mental Health Provider - Support advances inclusive, data‑driven student services by partnering with school leaders, special education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to deliver high‑quality, compliant mental health supports for qualifying students. This role services mental health and other SEL IEP goals, strengthens MTSS/RTI frameworks, trauma‑informed practices, and SEL programming by ensuring culturally responsive mental health assessment, intervention, and documentation within special education systems.

Core Responsibilities
Direct Student Services
  • Deliver counseling, social‑emotional instruction, and behavioral intervention aligned to IEP goals.
  • Implement evidence‑based supports for emotional regulation, coping, problem‑solving, and behavior.
  • Provide crisis stabilization, safety planning, and short‑term therapeutic support within scope of practice.
  • Support generalization of SEL and behavioral skills across school environments.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
  • Conduct observations, interviews, and data collection related to IEP goals and functional needs.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary evaluations within CDE‑authorized scope of practice.
  • Document services, progress, and recommendations in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Monitor student response to intervention and adjust strategies in collaboration with the IEP team.
Collaboration & Consultation
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on goals, services, accommodations, and behavioral supports.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to address emotional, behavioral, and SEL needs.
  • Support implementation of behavior plans, safety plans, and classroom strategies.
  • Provide guidance on trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices.
Family Engagement
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, strategies, and home‑school alignment.
  • Provide resources and guidance to support SEL, behavior, and mental health needs at home.
  • Coordinate with interpreters and cultural liaisons to ensure equitable access to services.
Capacity Building & Staff Support
  • Offer targeted professional learning on SEL, trauma‑informed practices, and mental health supports.
  • Coach educators and paraprofessionals in implementing classroom‑based strategies.
  • Contribute to schoolwide systems that strengthen prevention, early intervention, and inclusive practices.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health field.
  • Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider (SSP) license in one of the following areas:
    • School Counselor
    • School Social Worker
    • School Psychologist
    • School Marriage and Family Therapist
    • School Occupational Therapist (mental health‑aligned scope)
    • Other CDE‑authorized mental health provider license
  • OR a Colorado mental health license eligible for CDE authorization (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LP).
  • Experience providing mental health services to school‑aged children, including students with disabilities.
  • Strong skills in crisis response, collaboration, culturally responsive practice, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, MTSS, and school‑based mental health systems preferred.
Optional Remote/Tele‑Support
  • Virtual counseling sessions when appropriate and permitted.
  • Remote participation in IEP meetings.
  • Digital progress monitoring and communication.

$55,000 – $70,000 per year
