Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Chief of Mental Health to oversee all clinical and administrative aspects of Mental Health Service at the VA Medical Center.

This role coordinates across the healthcare system, supervises staff, and drives program evaluation and performance improvement. Responsibilities include budget stewardship, resource planning, and providing clinical leadership in psycho-diagnostic assessment, evidence-based therapies, and telehealth.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program.
• Licensure/certification as a social worker at the master’s level is required (VA waiver possible at GS-9).
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight of the Mental Health Service across the VA Medical Center.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and supervise staff; manage budgets and program evaluation.
• Deliver clinical leadership across psycho-diagnostic assessment, psychotherapy modalities, and telehealth as needed.
