Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Mental Health Professional to deliver outpatient behavioral health services, from initial assessment to aftercare planning, within a secure and supportive setting. You will conduct interviews, provide counseling, and manage casework for diverse patient needs.

You will also document care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and respond to emergencies as part of a comprehensive treatment program focused on recovery and community reintegration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health field from an accredited college or university.
• State licensure as Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Professional or Mental Health Counselor (license eligibility requires documentation).
• One year of mental health services experience in an institutional setting preferred.
• Ability to work in crisis situations in a professional and mature manner.
• Strong counseling and motivational skills.
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to develop clear reports promptly.

Responsibilities

• Provide full range of behavioral health outpatient services from intake to aftercare planning.
• Conduct behavioral health interviews, screenings, and evaluations with treatment planning.
• Offer individual and group counseling and specialty groups as needed.
• Provide case management to ensure continuity of service delivery.
• Prepare related documentation per organizational and state standards.
• Collaborate with Security, Medical, Classification and other departments as needed.
• Respond to crises, conduct risk assessments, and provide crisis intervention.
• Coordinate post-release planning and community referrals as appropriate.
• Be available for emergency calls or telehealth after hours as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Professional is responsible for provision of full range of behavioral health outpatient services from initial assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and case management as well as aftercare planning, group psychotherapy, suicide risk assessment, and crisis intervention.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• The Mental Health Professional conducts behavioral health interviews, screenings, and evaluations and determines appropriate behavioral health services and treatment plans to address a patient’s specific behavioral health needs in accordance with the mission of the outpatient behavioral health program and policies.
• The Mental Health Professional provides a full-range of supportive behavioral health services including brief individual counseling, group counseling (process or psycho-educational), and specialty group counseling (e.g., anger management, coping skills, etc.), and patient consultations.
• Provides case management services as required to ensure continuity of ongoing service delivery.
• The Mental Health Professional prepares all related behavioral health documentation in accordance with applicable organizational and state standards in a clear, thorough, and timely manner.
• Consults with Security, Medical, Classification and other departments as needed in patient related behavioral health concerns.
• The Mental Health Professional responds to psychological emergencies and provides crisis intervention as required up to and including involuntary hospitalization or placement under observation due to suicide risk or inability to adjust within general population due to symptoms of mental illness.
• Conducts post-release planning and communicates with community based behavioral health facilities for referral and continuity of care as appropriate.
• Available for emergency calls and/or telehealth services after routine business hours as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field such as Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
• State licensure (dependent upon the state) as a Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Professional or Mental Health Counselor (if claiming license eligibility, applicant must be able to provide proper documentation).
• One (1) year experience providing mental health services in an institutional setting is preferred.
• Ability to work in crisis situations in a professional and mature manner.
• Strong counseling and motivational skills.
• Must be able to work individually and in a team environment.
• Above average verbal and writing skills.
• Must be able to develop clear and concise reports in a timely manner.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
