The Iowa City VA Health Care System is hiring a Nursing Assistant for the Mental Health Unit. This role provides direct patient care - supports a safe therapeutic environment - and assists with recovery-oriented - trauma-informed care for veterans in acute psychiatric stabilization.

The Nursing Assistant assists with activities of daily living - promoting dignity - privacy - and independence. Intermittent and on-site positions are available to support inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or one year of education above high school related to nursing.
• Intensive occupation-related training may meet requirements.
• GS-3 to GS-5 grade criteria demonstrated by KSAs.

Responsabilités

• Support safe ambulation and transfers using proper techniques.
• Maintain ward cleanliness and safety checks.
• Document care and observations per policy.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and care team.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and orientation of veterans.
