Job summary

Voices for Voices in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) for Mental Health services. The NA will assist licensed nursing staff across preventive to hospice care, with responsibilities that include monitoring patients, reporting changes, and supporting treatment plans in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will act as a mentor to peers, demonstrate empathy, and maintain documentation as part of the care team.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required; English proficiency per VA standards.
• Six months general experience or one year of education related to NA work.
• Multiple paths to qualification as described in the posting, including grandfathering provisions for VA employees.
• GS-3 to GS-5 progression with supervision at entry level and increasing responsibilities at higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in care across preventive to hospice settings.
• Perform nursing care activities, monitor patient status and respond to changes with supervisor guidance.
• Document observations and communications with the care team; participate in care planning.
• Serve as a preceptor/mentor to other NAs and support orientation of new staff.
• Provide basic life support and assist in emergency situations as trained.
