Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration Nursing - Mental Health unit in Nashville, TN seeks a Nursing Assistant (GS-3/GS-5) to provide direct care to Veterans and support the care team. The role requires adherence to VA nursing standards and teamwork with Registered Nurses and LPNs.

Responsibilities include observing patient conditions, documenting vital signs, and assisting with care plans under supervision. A path to higher grade exists with demonstrated KSAs and experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of current nursing practice and KSAs as described in VA standards.
• Ability to observe and document patient conditions accurately.
• Ability to communicate with patients, families and interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care for Veterans under supervision.
• Documents care, vital signs, intake/output in EHR and reports deviations promptly.

Education

2+ years beyond high school with nursing-related courses

Bachelor’s degree with 24 health-care related hours
