Overview
Franklin Primary Health Center is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to provide clinical services to children and adolescents in Mobile, AL. This full-time position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health and collaborates with the School-Based Program to ensure quality mental health care for youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments and mental health evaluations
- Provide individual, group, family, and play therapy using appropriate therapeutic models
- Use assessment data to support DSM-V diagnoses
- Develop measurable treatment plans and behavior management strategies
- Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to community services
- Respond to crises and implement de-escalation strategies
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to coordinate care
- Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical staffing
- Maintain compliance with program standards and certification requirements
- Refer patients to legal, financial, healthcare, and social services as needed
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, charts, and referrals
- Contribute to reporting for funding agencies and administration
- Maintain professional licensure and attend trainings to enhance skills
- Manage caseload effectively and seek supervision when needed
- Participate in FPHC community events and support office operations and policies
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Active Alabama license (LPC, LICSW, LMFT, or license-eligible)
- Experience with children and adolescents preferred
- Strong understanding of therapeutic modalities and crisis intervention
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
