Job summary

TaraVista Behavioral Health Center in Devens, Massachusetts, is hiring a Mental Health Counselor for a Part-Time 24-hour Split Shift 11:00am - 7:30pm, every other weekend and holiday rotation. You will join a multidisciplinary team, provide direct inpatient care, monitor safety, and support patients and families in a compassionate, therapeutic environment.

The role emphasizes building therapeutic relationships, de-escalation, and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred in psychology or human services.
• Previous PCT/PCA, CNA or Medical Assistant experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Effective oral and written communication; professional boundaries.
• Experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient, restraint reduction/de-escalation and crisis intervention preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care on inpatient psychiatric units.
• Maintain a safe therapeutic milieu and conduct safety checks.
• Assist with ADLs and de-escalate acute situations.
• Develop therapeutic relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Document observations and progress in the EMR system.
• Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to plan care.

Mental Health Counselor Adult Inpatient Psych, 24 Hour Split Shift

PartTime 24-hours Split Shift 11:00am - 7:30pm including every other weekend and holiday rotation.

As aMental Health Counselor for TaraVista in Devens, Massachusetts, you’ll bring your experience and knowledge where your voice matters. A Mental Health Counselor is an integral part of our multidisciplinary treatment team. You will provide direct care and support not only to our patients but also their families and make decisions that impact the lives of your peers, your patients, and your community. In exchange, we will care for you as much as you care for our patients. As aMental Health Counselor,you will maintain a safe therapeutic milieu on inpatient psychiatric units. You will also conduct safety checks, monitor patients, assist with ADL’s, de-escalate acute situations, and provide supportive interactions with patients.

As a Mental Health Counselor, you will:

• Conduct patient observation and rounds.
• Assists staff with patient care while following treatment plans.
• Observe and monitor patient’s progress and reports observations to staff.
• Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living skills, as necessary.
• Provide appropriate supervision of patients’ activities.
• Responsible for safety monitoring of patients of the unit.
• Process admissions belongings.
• Complete documentation in the EMR system.
• Work collaboratively with the Interdisciplinary Team

Mental Health Counselor candidates will have the following:

• High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or human services field preferred.
• Previous PCT/PCA, CNA or Medical Assistant experience required.

• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Previous experience in psychiatric or substance inpatient, restraint reduction de-escalation, and crisis intervention is preferred.
