Job summary

MetroWest Medical Center in Natick, MA is seeking a milieu therapist to deliver psychiatric care to adults, adolescents, and children under supervision of the Charge Nurse. You will contribute to milieu treatment planning, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, and help implement therapeutic goals during hospitalization.

The role includes conducting initial assessments, leading individual and group sessions, documenting patient progress, and supporting a safe, compassionate care

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• If a new graduate, supervised-post graduate counseling internship with direct client contact under the supervision of a board-approved supervisor.
• Otherwise, 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a milieu therapist to assigned patients, collaborating with the nurse therapist to determine a milieu treatment approach, functioning as an active member of the multidisciplinary team, administering an initial psychological assessment, and providing consistent individual counseling focused on treatment goals during hospitalization.
• Participates in milieu therapy for patients on an individual or group basis. Leads or assists in milieu groups.
• Incorporates knowledge of each patient’s condition and application of various therapeutic techniques; ensures appropriate participation by patients.
• Collaborates in the diagnosis and treatment of patients; shares information and participates in the formulation of treatment plans.
• Records all appropriate information on patient charts; prepares regular reports describing each patient’s mental status and functioning, as well as significant interactions.
