Hope Services is the Bay Area's leading nonprofit provider serving individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. We seek a Mental Health Clinician for our Mental Health Services program on a 6–9 month temporary basis, offering a competitive monthly compensation and a chance to impact lives.

The Licensed or Pre-Licensed clinician will assess and diagnose, provide psychotherapy to clients, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Licensed clinician in LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist with developmental disabilities experience.
• Medicare credentialing required upon hire.
• Pre-licensed must be in MSW/MFT/PhD program eligible for licensure.
• Strong assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy skills with diverse clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and diagnosis for clients with dual diagnosis.
• Offer individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
• Develop service and coordination plans; document outcomes.
• Advocate for clients with other agencies.
• Identify and manage safety concerns; involuntary hospitalizations when needed.
• Educate agencies about needs of clients with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
• Develop relapse prevention with clients and supports.
• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Attend trainings to maintain license.
• Maintain treatment records and documentation.

• Duration: Approx 6-9 months
• Compensation: $6,451.00 - $8,287.00/month commensurate with experience and qualifications

About the role:

The Licensed or Pre-Licensed (under clinical supervision) Mental Health Clinician provides assessment and diagnosis to clients with dual diagnosis, provides individual, group and family psychotherapy, prepares individual service and coordination plans, documents clinical outcomes and acts as an advocate.

Responsibilities of the Mental Health Clinician:

• 1. Provides individual, group and family therapy to persons with a developmental disability who are diagnosed with severe mental illness.
• 2. Utilize professional education and training to diagnose and treat the clients' mental illnesses.
• 3. Provide psychotherapy to empower clients to identify and manager their psychiatric symptoms to enable them to be maximally functional in the larger community.
• 4. Constantly assess clients for potential harm to self, harm to others, or potential victimization and take appropriate measures to maintain safety. This includes, initiate involuntary hospitalizations when necessary to maintain safety.
• 5. Use professional training and credential to advocate for clients with other agencies, educate other agencies to recognize and deal with the needs of clients who have a developmental disability and are diagnosed with a mental illness.
• 6. Develop relapse prevention strategies with clients and their support systems to prevent future psychiatric hospitalizations and loss of community placements.
• 7. Participate as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team designed to maximally meet th ps8ychiatric and psychological needs of clients.
• 9. Regularly attend training to update and keep current skills and maintain license.
• 9. Maintain appropriate treatment records and documentation as required.
• 10. Other duties as assigned to assure efficiency of the program.

Qualifications of the Mental Health Clinician:

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician must possess current licensure as a LCSW, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist and experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. All licensed clinicians, upon hire or upon obtaining licensure, are required to be Medicare credentialed by submitting a Medicare enrollment application. The Pre-Licensed Mental Health Clinician must be enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral degree program (MSW, MFT, PhD) that is eligible for licensure to provide psychotherapy by the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, or the Board of Psychology.

• 7. Knowledge and understanding of multidisciplinary team and family dynamics.
• 8. Ability to be flexible with scheduling and prioritization of tasks.
