Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part‑Time Clinical Nursing Faculty to teach in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

You will mentor students in person at an inpatient clinical setting located in the Alamogordo, NM area. You will connect classroom theory and simulations to real‑world patient care, ensuring students are prepared and confident in providing high‑quality care.

Scheduling
  • Schedule is determined by course needs and clinical specialty for each 8‑week session.
  • Clinical instructors are typically scheduled for 3–4 consecutive 12‑hour shifts, usually over 1–2 weeks per session.
  • Additional dates may not be available; clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.
Mental Health Psych Nursing

Students will demonstrate nursing skills in an inpatient healthcare center, focusing on the dynamics of patients’ ability to function in society. The course covers anxiety, self‑concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, abuse, and violence issues.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Implementation
    • Implement the College’s philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
    • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
    • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students.
  • Student Evaluation and Support
    • Develop and post written clinical assignments that match students’ knowledge base, skill competency, and individual learning needs.
    • Evaluate and provide documented feedback on performance based on course objectives.
    • Be available for remediation of students as required.
    • Correct and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • Clinical Coordination
    • Maintain knowledge of clinical site policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of site personnel.
    • Stay visible and available to staff and students at the clinical site.
  • Program and College Development
    • Contribute to ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and the College.
    • Participate in the College Assessment Program, campus retention efforts, and departmental and campus policies.
    • May teach simulation/skills lab and/or didactic course content under the supervision of the course coordinator.
  • Professionalism and Collaboration
    • Serve as a professional role model for faculty, staff, and students.
    • Use relationship skills for group problem solving, consensus building, and win‑win negotiation.
    • Work with college administration, staff, and faculty to improve overall operations and student satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
    • Comply with all applicable regulatory rules and standards.
    • Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.
    • Report to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight from a course coordinator.
  • Handle related duties and perform other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional RN nursing license in New Mexico.
  • Illinois RN license required to teach all courses (course assignments prioritized to professors currently licensed in Illinois).
  • Active BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
Additional Information

In support of pay‑transparency laws enacted across the country, expected compensation for this position ranges from $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the candidate’s education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job‑related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught; experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
