Job summary

Greater Lakes Mental Health is seeking a Mental Health Advocate to provide supportive counseling and case management to adults with behavioral health needs. Under supervision of a licensed professional, you will coordinate care, identify resources, advocate for clients, and develop goal-oriented treatment plans.

Position requires driving and a WA ACCR credential; prior experience in behavioral health is preferred, with travel between clinics and community sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • ACCR credential must be applied for within 30 days of hire; pending allowed up to 120 days.
  • One year of experience with seriously mentally ill adults or in Behavioral Health preferred.
  • Driving is essential; valid license, insurance and acceptable driving record required.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Advocate provides supportive counseling and case management services to adult behavioral health clients under the direction of a licensed professional. Supportive counseling may include symptom management and skills training using behavioral principles and a structured session approach. Case management includes care coordination, resource identification and development, advocacy, service monitoring and follow-up, collateral supports.


Responsibilities


  • Serves as a consumer advocate in relation to the mental health system, community agencies, and the consumer’s support system, as needed.

  • Provides person-centered supportive counseling, assessment of needs/risk, skills training, advocacy and case management for clients

  • Assists in developing problem-focused, goal-oriented treatment plans which address the specific needs of the consumer and specific anticipated clinical outcomes.

  • Provides comprehensive community support activities to assigned caseload, including assistance in identifying and utilizing community resources, liaison with other agencies and organizations, referral to appropriate community programs, completion of all necessary reports.

  • Maintains consumer records in keeping with Agency, County, and State guidelines.

  • Coordinates discharge planning, including referral to appropriate agencies for ongoing needs.


Requirements


  • Washington State Counselor Agency Affiliated Registered (ACCR) credential must be applied for within thirty (30) days of hire. Employees may work while the application is pending for up to one hundred twenty (120) days, unless a higher credential is already held

  • One (1) year of experience working with seriously and persistently mentally ill adults or in a Behavioral Health setting preferred

  • Driving is an essential function of this position. The incumbent will routinely travel between clinic, community, patient, and business locations in the performance of assigned duties and may be required to operate a personal vehicle and/or agency-owned vehicle. A valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record in compliance with agency vehicle-use requirements are required

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.83 - $35.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
