Job summary

College Medical Center Long Beach is seeking an Activity Therapy Aide to implement and coordinate therapeutic activity programming for adult inpatient populations. Under supervision, you will document patient progress in the medical record and assist with evaluating patients.

The role requires facilitating group therapy for patients with varying levels of functioning and planning daily events and special activities. Minimum 6 months acute psychiatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in acute psychiatric setting preferred.
• 6 months suggested experience in caring for mental health patients in an acute inpatient setting.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the adult unit.
• Provides care to psychiatric patients; documents assessment, treatment planning, and therapy progress.
• Assists with planning and implementing the unit's activity therapy program, including daily events and special events.
• Conducts activity therapy group sessions and individual sessions; applies group principles and techniques.
• Coordinates planning and implementation of the Unit's activity therapy program.

The Activity Therapy Aide implements and coordinates therapeutic activity programming for adult inpatient population. Assists with evaluating patients. Under the supervision of Recreation Therapist, documents progress of patient progress towards goals and treatment in medical record.

This position requires facilitating group therapy with highly functional to severe mental illness through alternative measures such as games, activities, outdoor time, and crafts.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6 months experience in acute psychiatric setting preferred.

• 6 months suggested experience in caring for mental health patients in an acute inpatient setting.

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age group served on the unit.

• Provides care to the psychiatric and mental illness patient. Displays good skills in assessment, documentation, treatment planning, group and individual therapy treatments.

• Assists with planning and implementing the unit's activity therapy program, including planning of daily events, special events, and providing in-service for other staff participating in the activity therapy program.

• Conducts activity therapy group sessions and individual sessions as needed, displaying good theoretical knowledge of group principles and good group techniques.

• Coordinates the planning and implementation of the Unit's activity therapy program.

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
