Job summary

Oxnard College, part of the Ventura County Community College District, is accepting applications for an Assistant Coach on an ongoing pool for current and future vacancies. The role involves instruction and leadership to student-athletes, recruitment, scheduling, program operations, and public relations under supervision.

Selected candidates will support Head Coach and Athletic Director, coordinate with CCCAA regulations, and contribute to fundraising and student success initiatives.

Qualifications

• Possession of a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience or an associate degree and six years of professional experience.
• The equivalent qualifications may be accepted with an equivalency process per district policy.
• First Aid Certificate must be obtained within three months of employment.
• CPR Certificate must be obtained within three months of employment.
• Valid California Driver License is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and scheduling competitions, tournaments, and events in collaboration with coaches and in concert with academic schedules and CCCAA/Western State Conference regulations.
• Distribute schedules to student-athletes, department personnel, and campus media; collect and report subject sport statistics.
• Establish and maintain safety standards to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities; demonstrate techniques to prevent injuries.
• Create a positive atmosphere for student-athletes; support academic progress and retention through mentoring activities.
• Assist with recruiting process in compliance with CCCAA regulations; maintain contact with prospective student-athletes.
• Develop subject sport team budget and manage expenses; recommend purchases of equipment and uniforms.
• Ensure program compliance with CCCAA regulations and communicate disciplinary consequences as needed.
• Promote interest and attendance at athletic events; assist in fundraising efforts.
• Provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned.
